The Rose Room Venue Manager Jessa Laurel-Exclusive Interview

By March 20, 2017Exclusive

What is your favorite part about managing The Rose Room?

I love managing The Rose Room because everyday I come to work and I’m doing something completely different. I get to work with so many unique people from different careers. I learn something new everyday.

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

That’s a tough one… Ernest Hemingway so I could hear stories of great adventures. Gandhi for enlightenment. Marilyn Monroe because duh.

What is the weirdest thing to happen at The Rose Room?

It’s a secret.

If you could have any talent what would it be?

To sing!

How long have you been living in Venice Beach?

I’ve had my own place here for a year, but I feel it’s been longer than that. My dad’s been living here for 25 years, and so growing up I would stay here in the summers. I am bicoastal, NY -> LA.

What is a hidden skill of yours?

I’m a decent writer.

What’s your favorite era that you wish you were alive for?

I love the glamour and intrigue of the 20s, but women didn’t have many rights so that wouldn’t work out too well for me. Although, it would be interesting to experience life without modern technology. The 60s seemed like a groovy time, very revolutionary. All in all, I think right now is the coolest time to be alive.
